One Young World

One Young World is a UK-based not-for-profit organisation that gathers the brightest young people from around the world, empowering them to make lasting connections and to create positive change. They stage an annual summit where young talent from companies, NGOs, universities and other forward-thinking organisations are joined by world leaders, acting as the One Young World Counselors. At the Summit, delegates debate, formulate and share innovative solutions for the pressing issues the world faces.

Challenge

Get the city of The Hague to host the One Young World Summit 2018

The Hague Convention bureau wanted the city of The Hague to become the host city for the summit in 2018. Skopei Digital created the winning bid in cooperation with the municipality of The Hague. The bid required a book, a website and a video in a unique One Young World The Hague style to convince the jury that The Hague is the best city to host their Summit.

Vision

The Hague: City of Peace and Justice

The Hague is home to 160 international institutions and organisations that employ over 14.000 people who are committed to working towards a safe and just world. This makes The Hague the International City of Peace and Justice, the world's legal capital and the second U.N. City. Obviously this makes a very strong base for the bid proposal.

Identity

Clean, Creative & Apparent

The clean logo is based upon the diamond of the Municipality of The Hague with a touch of M.C. Escher's creative optical illusions. The apparent style is woven trough the bid-book as well as the bid-website. The black and white aesthetic leaves room for colorful pictures and the accent of the One Young World logo itself, one of the requirements for a strong proposal.

Video

...but we are happy, aren't we?

The bid proposal's most crucial factor is the bid video. In the video, the indifference of large parts of the younger generation is emphasised, showing the lazy a reflection of their inactivity, so that they get moving out of embarrassment. Getting out of one's comfort zone and look at the issues outwards, is an uphill battle. With One Young World, we hope to get the youth to notice their often privileged position and awaken and catalyse their willingness to help others who are in serious need. We are the leaders of tomorrow and we have already begun.

Result

Bid-Proposal: granted!

The One Young World Team visited The Hague for three days, to experience the facilities and its host potential first hand. One week later the winner was announced! The full campaign is a success as The Hague will be the host city in 2018.
